Obituary for Shirley Scheck
Shirley Scheck
Shirley passed away in Walnut Creek on Dec.30,2014, due to congestive heart failure and other complications. Her son, John Scheck, Jr., and daughter, Robin Scheck Williams were at her bedside. A private family viewing and ceremony were held following her passing. Shirley was 85 years old, living a full life with her family and friends.
Shirley was born in Gary, Indiana to Gladys Irene and Louis Lee Blumer. She was the second of four Blumer children; Virginia, Shirley, James and Robert. In 1951, Shirley eventually met and married her husband, John Scheck, Sr. They welcomed the birth of their first child, Robin Lou Scheck, in 1952. Two years later, they all moved west to El Cerrito, California. Shirley decided to pursue modeling and a career at, Tomi Gale Modeling Charm School, in Richmond. She eventually left it all behind to follow her husband's career. In 1960, the family moved to the East Bay and settled in Alamo, California. In 1964, they welcomed the birth of their second child, John Scheck, Jr. Shirley was regarded as a long standing Alamo resident, for 54 yrs.
Shirley embraced life with her husband, enjoying boating in the Delta and the SF Bay. She was an active member of the Trident Yacht Club and Cruiser Haven Yacht Club. There would be many duties to fill, friendships to embrace and travel to enjoy. Shirley's passion for life enveloped many interests beyond her beloved family and pets. These included political interest, giving back to the community and capturing her loved ones and life through photography. She loved writing poetry and diving into projects of family ancestry. These all took up most of her spare time.
Shirley was devoted to her family and preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Scheck, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Scheck Williams; son-in-law, James D. Williams, Jr., of Alamo; son, John W. Scheck, Jr; daughter-in-law, Tracy Scheck, of Florida and three grandchildren; JW Scheck III, Reagan Scheck, Jaime Williams Spray and Jaime's husband, Luke Spray. Shirley was a loving and beautiful soul who is deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
