Joseph was born on July 22, 1949 and passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Joseph was a resident of Pennsylvania at the time of passing. Catholic by faith, Joe was a volunteer fireman for Carroll Twp when he was younger, served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, where he sailed upon the USS Newport News, and later worked as a steelworker at US Steel Clairton Cokeworks. There will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be held by the family.

Obituary for Joseph D. Chilzer
Joseph D. Chilzer, 67, of Long Branch, formerly of Monessen, went to be with the Lord in his home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. A son of the late John W. and Elizabeth June Bremer Chilzer, he was born on July 22, 1949 in Wheeling, WV. Catholic by faith, Joe was a volunteer fireman for Carroll Twp when he was younger, served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, where he sailed upon the USS Newport News, and later worked as a steelworker at US Steel Clairton Cokeworks. Survivors include five brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Sherry Chilzer of West Leisenring, George and Edith Chilzer of Allenport, Thomas Chilzer of Monessen, Timothy Chilzer of Charleroi and David Chilzer of Monessen; two sisters, Mary Anne Frye and her husband Art Sloan of Coal Center, and Susan Chilzer of Charleroi; a brother-in-law, Samuel T. Selinger of Monessen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony G. "Gerry" Chilzer. There will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
