John J Roth, aged 95, of Fairfield and formerly of ND, died Saturday October 13, 2012, at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base. The son of Adam and Elizabeth Roth, John was born on February 3, 1917 in Belfield, North Dakota. On October 15, 1944, he was united in marriage to Clara Weisgerber. The couple had three children. John was the proud grandfather of five and great-grandfather of four. He was proud to be a veteran of World War II, and of his career in the Air Force. John worked at Mare Island in Vallejo until he retired in 1983. He then volunteered at the Retired Activities Office at Travis for another 20 years. He was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield and he loved gardening, woodworking and talking to all of his friends and neighbors.
John is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Becky Parton and her husband Doug, Ken Roth and his wife Connie, and Nancy Smith and her husband Greg; and John’s sisters, Eleanor McCauley, Rosemary Klein and brother, George Roth; and lovingly by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held Thursday, October 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Sprit Catholic Church with a service following at 1 p.m. Interment followed the service at Rockville Cemetery.
