Harry was living in Almont, ND when he entered the service and was a member of Battery C, 235th Field Artillery Observation Battalion, U.S. Army.
He was listed as Missing in Action while serving in an observation post near Sok Chang-Ni, North Korea, that had been subjected to heavy mortar and artillery fire. Later, it was determined he had been Killed in Action on June 11, 1953. His remains were never recovered.
His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Corporal Barth was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
