Earl Watson
HAWTHORNE, Calif.- A native resident of Sterling, Dr. Earl Eugene Watson, born to Earl C. Watson and Gene (Agnew) Watson, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 6, 2006, at his home in Hawthorne, Calif., due to complications resulting from throat cancer.
Watson, a recently retired college professor at Cal State Dominguez Hills, was born July 27, 1939, in Sterling. He would have been 67 this month. He received his doctorate from Penn State University. He married his wife, Lola, on Sept. 3, 1959, in Cocoa Beach, Fla., and was a member of Hope Chapel, Hawthorne, Calif.
A memorial service, attended by family, friends and colleagues, took place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, and was conducted by George Magdalany, pastor of Hope Chapel, Hawthorne, Calif.
Dr. Watson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lola S. Watson; and his five children, Matthew L. Watson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Edward A. Watson of Craig, Colo., twin sons, Willard E. and Lawrence P. Watson, both of Hawthorne, Calif., and daughter, Jeannie M. Watson of Long Beach, Calif. He also is survived by two grandsons, Andrew and Larry Watson of Craig, Colo.
Dr. Watson's older brother and only sibling, Jack R. Watson of Smyrna, Ga., passed away earlier this year.
