Birth: Jun. 14, 1854, Germany Death: Dec. 2, 1929 Dixon Lee County Illinois, USA OBITUARY MRS. MARGARET PROPHETER Margaret Zimmerman Propheter was born June 14th, 1854, in Germany, and passed away at her daughter's home in Dixon, Monday morning, December 2nd, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 18 days. She was only an infant of about 3 or 4 weeks when her parents came over with her to this country, making their home in Cumberland, Maryland, where she was reared. In the year 1871, she was united in holy wedlock to Fred Propheter. In the year 1878, they came to Dixon Ill. Her husband passed away about 33 years ago. She then kept house for about 20 years for the late Henry Gennerman, in Franklin Grove that the Ladies Aid of that congregation was organized and of which she was chosen president. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Germany and was confirmed in Cumberland, Maryland, and became an active member of her church in Franklin Grove and wherever she lived. About 3 years ago she fell and broke her hip, which because of her age never seemed to heal properly and gave her much trouble. A year ago last August she suffered a paralytic stroke, and a week before Easter a second stroke. She became bedfast and was in the hospital for about 3 months. It was always a pleasure to call on her and comfort her as she was a devout Christian. Those to mourn her passing are her six children: Mrs. Carrie Fisher of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Catherine May of Chicago; Mrs. Lloyd Duffy of Dixon; Fred and John of Milwaukee, and George, of Dixon; six grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Carrie Zink of Cumberland, Md.; two brothers, Conrad Zimmerman of Cumberland, Md., and Henry Zimmerman, of Chicago. Her husband and one daughter and one son preceded her in death.
