GREAT BEND - Clarence J. Heckens, 81, died
Tuesday at Central Kansas Medical Center,
Great Bend, after a short illness.
Born Nov. 22, 1900, at Hesston, he married
Mable Brown in 1927. He married Katherine
Koelsch in 1937. He then married Esther
Radke Oct. 24, 1950, in Arkansas.
He was a retired general contractor and
was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
He was a member of the Church of the
Nazarene, Great Bend; World War I
veteran Barracks No. 2109.
Survivors: widow, of the home; son,
Clarence Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.; stepson,
Harold Radke, Hulbert, Okla.; daughters,
Helen Sanders, Marie Kern, Mae Brown, all
of Great Bend; stepdaughters, Fay Gatton,
Great Bend; Velma Burch, Nickerson; Betty
Pack, Abilene; sisters, Stella Duda, Great
Bend; Anna Gutierrez, Timken; Margaret
Selle, St. John; 30 grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the
church; the Rev. Larry Schmidt and the
Rev. T. A. Burton. Burial at the Great
Bend Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
the church in care of Fryberger Mortuary,
Great Bend.
