- [S927] Obituary.
Margo Stegmiller passed into heaven very peacefully on Monday, February 20th after a 2 ½ year courageous fight against cancer. Her journey through that battle was an amazing display of toughness, determination and courage.
Margo Lynn (Schmidt) Stegmiller was born in Mandan, ND on March 2nd, 1955 to Leona (Ferderer) and Andrew Schmidt. Her paternal grandparents were John and Regina (Brinster) Schmidt. Her maternal grandparents were Nick and Rose (Emineth) Ferderer.
Margo grew up in Mandan where she attended St Joseph's Catholic School, Mandan Junior High and graduated from Mandan High School in May of 1973. She worked four years as Clerk of Current Birth Registrations at the ND State Department of Health. On September 3rd, 1976, Margo married her soulmate and the love of her life, Duane Stegmiller. They spent the next year living in Fargo and Mandan, and eventually moved to Dickinson where Margo worked in the Financial Aid Office at Dickinson State University. In 1982, Margo and Duane moved back to the Bismarck-Mandan area and started the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacies. In addition to helping run and manage the businesses, Margo also worked as a Pharmacy Technician. Her compassion and caring for patients and employees was instrumental in making the businesses a success. Margo and Duane retired in 2007 and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends and just relaxing.
Margo was an inspiration to everyone whose lives she touched. She was a beautiful, kind, thoughtful, strong, generous and giving person who was forever willing and wishing to help others. For those who knew her, Margo was always taking care of others before herself. She was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to so many. Her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews were very special to her. Margo always went to great lengths to find the perfect gift or that special way to spend time with them. Margo loved crafting, card-making, scrapbooking, jewelry making and anything else that used her creative skills.
Margo is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Duane; four sisters, Angie (Ralph) Ziesmer, Jean (Tony) Beckler, Sandy (Roger) Stern and Lyla (Bruce) Lovdal; two nieces, Chris and Tracy; ten nephews, Neal, Ross, Todd, Nathan, Jeff, Spencer, Troy, Lee, Andy and Lyle; four grand-nieces, Sydney, Emma, Victoria and Carly; and five grand-nephews, Ethan, Joe, Andrew, Gabe and Cameron.
Margo was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Leona Schmidt.
There will be a lunch and "Celebration of Margo's Life" at the Mandan Eagles (1400 Collins Ave, Mandan, ND) on Monday February 27th at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the charity of your choice.
