Funeral services for William "Bill" Boeshans, age 84 of Elgin, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Bethesda Lutheran Church south of Leith with Pastor Dale Carmen, officiating.
Burial will be in the Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the George W. Snook American Legion Post #246 of Elgin.
A family service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.
Special music will be provided by Patsy Hauge, organist. Susan Keller will sing, "The Old Rugged Cross" and the congregation will sing, "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."
Serving as casketbearers are Butch Keller, Dwight Keller, Danny Keller, Reggie Pahl, Dean Morast, and Brian Boeshans. All nieces and nephews are considered Honorary Bearers.
WILLIAM PHILIP BOESHANS "Bill" was born November 10, 1924 at Circle, MT to Joseph David and Marie Eva (Krug) Boeshans. He was baptized at the Kronthal Lutheran Church, rural Beulah, ND. The family moved to Oklahoma and later moved back to Mercer County, North Dakota. He was drafted into the U.S. Army 17th of January, 1945 and served as an engineer in Okinawa, Japan and in Korea. Bill was honorably discharged on the 10th of May, 1946 and began farming on the family farm in Grant Co., ND.
Bill and his brother Bob farmed together for many years and were proud of the Shorthorn Cattle and Berkshire hogs that they raised. Bill won many awards showing the pigs at the Valley City winter show.
He served on the Farmers Union Board, the Bethesda Lutheran Church Council, the Wheeler school board, and was a lifetime member of the Elgin Saddle Club. Bill was a hard worker, but always enjoyed taking time to watch and help with the Elgin rodeos.
Bill passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin.
He will be greatly missed by his 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law, Robert "Bob" Boeshans, Elgin, ND; Emil and Betty Boeshans, Castleton, ND; Helen Boeshans, Laurel, MT; 3 sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Eugene Keller, Mandan, ND; Irma and Ivan Keller, Buelah, ND; and Ruth Sellner, Elgin, ND; 26 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Henry and Oscar; 1 sister, Selma Arlene; and brother-in-law, Jim Sellner.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Saturday one hour prior to services at Bethesda Lutheran Church south of Leith.
