Jack R. Wolbaum was born September 12, 1925 to Ben and Magdalena (Emineth) Wolbaum in Dickinson, North Dakota. He grew up in the Dickinson area and attended St. Joseph's School and Dickinson Central High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on December 9, 1943 and served as a Machinist Mate in the Pacific and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1946. Jack married Dorothy Klein on November 15, 1950 in Dickinson. After his return from the service he worked as an auto mechanic for the Ford garage. He then worked as an auto parts man at Sax Motor Co. until 1960. In 1960 he went to work for Charbonneau's as their auto parts manager until 1980. He was employed by Stark County as a correctional officer and the past three years he was employed with the ND State Highway Department in maintenance of the Green River rest area.
He was a member of the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years and is a member of the ND State Fire Chiefs Association and the VFW Post No. 3444.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, one daughter Jackie (Bob) Oster, two sons, Kenneth (Leona), Robert, and two brothers, Albert and Vern, two sisters, Henrietta (Doyle) Hunt, Carol (Ken) Heidecker and five grandchildren.
