In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his lifelong companion Ivy Cliff Weldon of Riverside. He graduated from Beaver HS in 1947, where his classmates nicknamed him "Cheetah". He attended New Mexico State Univ. in Las Vegas, NM where he lettered in football and track. He served in the US Army for 2 years. He worked for US Steel in Pittsburgh, PA and Birmingham, AL. He was a project foreman with Sullivan, Long and Haggerty Construction Co in Birminham at the time of his retirement in 1988. His is survived by one brother, Jay Maratta of Virginia,NM, nieces and nephews and faithful friends. His ashes will be interred at a later date beside his beloved Ivy Cliff in Weogufka, AL.
