- OBITUARY: William L. "Bill" Berger RAPID CITY - William "Bill" L. Berger, 74, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Bill was born May 4, 1930, in Fallon, ND, to John and Frances (Buehler) Berger. He was educated at Fort Yates North Dakota Country School. He was married to Hildagard Kopp at St. Gertrude's, ND, October 21, 1952. They moved to Rapid City in about 1956. He was the owner/operator of Berger Sanitation for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Bill was a member of several organizations, including The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, Foresters, and the Rapid Valley Fire Department. His hobbies were cards and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Hildagard of Rapid City; two sons, Norbert (Elaine) Berger of Rapid City, Dean (Debra) Berger of Willets, CA; two daughters, Rhonda Berger of Rapid City, and Shirley Berger, also of Rapid City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; five siblings, Mark Berger of Yakima, WA, Pete Berger of Mandan, ND, Veronica Barnhart of Solen, ND, Josephine Ripplinger of Mandan, ND, Angeline Ternes of Tacoma, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home, Thursday, September 2, 2004, 5-8 p.m. A Rosary will be at Kirk Funeral Home, 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2004, with a service following at 10:00 a.m. at Kirk Funeral Home "Chapel of Light," with Father Michel Mulloy officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials are for the American Diabetes Association. Friends may sign Bill's guest book at www.kirkfuneralhome.com.
