Birth: Dec. 27, 1878 Velykokomarivka Odes'ka, Ukraine Death: Dec. 19, 1948 Medicine Hat Medicine Hat Census Division Alberta, Canada Bio by Elaine (Becker) MORRISON — John BECKER was born 27 December 1878 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia and died 19 December 1947 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. He married Rosina MOSER on the 15 July 1893 in North Dakota. John BECKER immigrated to America with his parents from Glasgow to Castle Garden, New York, arriving on the 2 June 1879 aboard the SS "Circassia". As a child he first went to Tripp, Hutchinson, Dakota Territory and in June of 1886 to rural Lehr, Dakota Territory. As a young man John BECKER moved to Elgin, Grant County, North Dakota and in 1910 he moved his family to Irvine, Alberta, Canada, where in 1911 he took on a homestead one mile southwest of Hilda, Alberta's present location.
