Leon "Buck" Schroeder, age 67, of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away January 8, 2014 in Wichita Falls.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Moloney, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Windthorst under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
The bereavement meal will be served immediately following the interment in the Parish Hall at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst.
Buck was born February 24, 1946 in Archer City to Frank and Margaret Zotz Schroeder and graduated from Windthorst High School.
He and Judy Lynn Wolf were married July 4, 1969 in Windthorst, Texas.
During the Vietnam War, Buck proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. For twenty-six years, he was employed at Sheppard Air Force Base as a sheet metal specialist until his retirement.
Buck was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post # 2676 and a charter member of the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Council # 10998 in Wichita Falls. Buck enjoyed hunting and watching the Texas Rangers.
Survivors include Judy Schroeder of Wichita Falls; one son, Chad Schroeder and wife, Kara of Wichita Falls; one granddaughter, Posie Schroeder of Wichita Falls; one brother, John Schroeder and wife, Ruth of Windthorst; five sisters, Pauline Schultz of El Paso, Texas, Margie Hoffman of Wichita Falls, Trudy Veitenheimer and husband, Walter of Wichita Falls, Agnes Pechacek of Throckmorton, and Mary Sternadel of Windthorst; and several nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Liza Rose Schroeder; four brothers, Frank Jr., Alois, Lawrence, Henry "Otto"; one sister, Angeline Lindeman.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of University Park Manor and the team from Hospice of Wichita Falls for their excellent loving care and concern for Buck.
