Johanna “JoAnn” M. Watts
Johanna “JoAnn” M. Watts, 84, of Anacortes, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Homeplace Care Center in Oak Harbor, Washington. She was born June 18, 1921 in Glenullin, North Dakota, the daughter of Adolph and Pauline (Dietrick) Mosbrucker. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Glenullin. JoAnn worked for the hospital in Yankton, South Dakota, but when World War II started, she moved to California with her two brothers and worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California. On June 17, 1944, JoAnn married Glenn Watts and they moved to Santa Barbara, CA. After their son, Jack G. Watts was born on April 6, 1945, the family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and eventually back to Long Beach where their second son, Robert, was born. Being married to a U. S. Marine didn’t make her life too easy, but she was a tough German. JoAnn loved sports and bowling with the gang at San Juan Lanes for a number of years. She loved to fish and hunt and was very good at all the things she tried. She could out fish and out shoot her husband any day. When Alzheimer’s got the best of her in May 2002, she went to live at Homeplace Care Center in Oak Harbor, until her death. JoAnn was preceded in death by her brothers, Joachim Mosbrucker, Adolph Mosbrucker, Joseph Mosbrucker; sisters, Katherine Koffler, Caroline White, and M. Catherine Mosbrucker, O.S.B. She is survived by her husband, Glenn; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Vivian Watts of Kent, WA, Robert and Judy Watts of Buckley, WA; eight grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Nick Mosbrucker, William Mosbrucker, Innochent Mosbrucker, John Mosbrucker, and Steve Mosbrucker. Memorials may be made to the Skagit Hospice Foundation, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA, 98273 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western and Central Washington State Chapter, Development Department, 12721 30th Avenue, NE #101, Seattle, WA 98125. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Anacortes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2005 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father W.R. Harris officiating. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Anacortes.
