Henry Schwab, 67, 908 First Ave. N.W., Mandan, died Aug. 29, 1997, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, with burial in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Military rites will be by Veterans of Foreign Wars and Mandan American Legion.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughters rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. A parish vigil will begin at 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Henry was born Sept. 12, 1929, on a farm near Stanton, the son of John and Julia (Heinz) Schwab. He was raised in the Stanton area and graduated from Assumption Abbey School in Richardton. Henry served in the U.S. Army from September 1948 to June 1952. On April 20, 1954, he married Marlene J. Zimmerman in Richardton. Henry was employed with Amoco for 35 years.
He was a member of Elks, Knights of Columbus, Eagles and a life member of American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; one daughter, Michele Schwab, Mandan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Juliette, Alpine, Texas, Kenneth and Elizabeth, Wylie, Texas, and Christopher and Donna, Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Paul, Nissa and Brennon; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy, Rapid City, S.D., John and Doris, Hazen, and Antone and Bernice, Spokane, Wash.; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Hoffman, Bismarck, Barbara Kompish, Billings, Mont., Eleanor and Harold Peterson, Seattle, Sister Juliana Schwab and Sister Barbara Ann Schwab, both of Richardton; and extended special families, John and Vicki Koffler, and their children, Sarah, Megan, Kaitlyn and Danielle, and Jerry and Deborah Maddock, and their children, James, Jeffrey and Laura.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jacob, Francis and Michael; and three sisters, Madge Swoboda, Eva Hagel and Helen Scharosch.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Sacred Heart Monastery in Richardton.
