  OBITUARY: TRAVERSE CITY - Ethel Michels, 84, of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at Tendercare of Traverse City.She was born May 29, 1919, in Slade, Ky., the daughter of Harrison and Maggie (Campbell) Stewart. On June 23, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, Ethel married Leroy Michels, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1977.Ethel is survived by her son, Marv (Elaine) Michels of Grandville; her daughter, Marilyn Michels of Traverse City; six grandchildren, Greg (Laura) Harrand, Gary (Debra) Harrand, Jeff (Jodi) Harrand, Robert (Kim) Michels, all of Traverse City, and Ryan Michels and Laura Michels (Matt) Skavnak, both of Peoria, Ill.; and seven great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband, Ethel was also preceded in death by her son, Donald Michels; her twin brother, Everett Stewart; four half sisters and two half brothers.Visitation will be held at Covell Funeral Homes, Traverse City, on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Janowski as celebrant. The family will greet friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.Burial will take place in St. Mary's Hannah Cemetery, Kingsley.Memorials may be given in Ethel's name to Immaculate Conception Church or the charity of one's choice.Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Homes, Traverse City.
