He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Francis and Edith Harbrecht, then moved to Martinez at the age of 3. He attended Martinez Schools, graduating from Alhambra High School and went on to CAL Berkeley where he earned his Master's Degree in Art. Dan leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Susan Griffanti Harbrecht, his high school sweetheart, son Keith (Fianc‚ Mandi) of Benicia & Kevin (wife Tiera) of Martinez, brother Richard (wife Delores) of San Jose and sister Rosemary (husband Martin) of Canada, along with nieces and nephew who will miss him and his stories.Dan joined the Navy after college and retired with 30 years of service as a Captain and he was so proud of the Navy. He worked at the Paddock Bowl where he shared all his stories and especially giving all his friends a jar of his home grown chili grind which he was so proud of. Along with growing his vegetables and chili, he took time out to fish and hunt with his buddies, and he was a great Bocce Ball player for the last 30 years.
