Services Planned For Hardin Soldier
Hardin, Nov. 22 - Funeral services for Frank Stanley Gress, who was killed
in Korea May 21, will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Hardin Catholic
church with the Rev. D. L. Owens officiating.
Mr. Gress was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Gress of Hardin.
Pallbearers will be brothers and half brothers of the deceased.
Hardin Post No. 8 of the American Legion will furnish color guard, firing
squad and bugler for military services at Custer Battlefield national
cemetery, where the soldier will be buried.
Sergeant Glen Helmann of Hardin escorted the body from Oakland, Cal. to
Hardin.
Mr. Gress was born September 28, 1924, at Hysham. He came to Hardin with his
parents and attended Hardin schools, later being employed at the Chevrolet
garage here.
He was a veteran of World war II, during service in which he was twice
wounded in action. In 1950 he reenlisted in the army at Harvey, N.D., and
left for overseas early in 1951. He served in Korea until his death.
Survivors include his parents; five brothers, Mike, Johnny, Bobby, Marcus
and Bennie; seven sisters, Barbara, Eva, Katherine, Annie, Rosie, Margaret
and Frances; five half brothers, George, Pete, Anton, Willie and Emanuel,
and a half sister, Christina.
