Michael Patrick Gress, 37, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015, at Bismarck, North Dakota.
Michael Patrick Gress was born March 17, 1977 to Harry and Carol (Knutson) Gress in Mandan, ND. He grew up in the Mandan area and later relocated to Williston, ND with his family where he attended school and worked various jobs in the oilfield and trucking industry. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family.
In 1999, Michael was blessed with a son, Kyler who brought him great joy in seeing him develop into the man he is today. Kyler will always have a special place in his heart as his first born. In 2003 he was blessed with a son, Reace. Reace and Michael had a special bond although their time was cut short, Michael was so proud to be called dad by his special little boy. Michael was also fond of Reace’s little brother, Bronson. He always made it a point to include him in all their activities. In 2004, Michael was blessed with a little girl named Alyse. He loved to watch her dance and attempted to attend as many dance recitals possible. Michael referred to Alyse as his “baby girl” and cried after their last visit when she leaned over and said “Daddy, you are my best friend.” In 2008, Michael was united in marriage to Alyse’s mother, Amanda Lund and made a commitment to be a good father to his step-son, Alex. Alex and Michael bonded from that moment and Michael loved him with an open heart. Michael was very proud of all his children and the memories they shared will be cherished for life.
Michael was a passionate Minnesota Vikings, Fighting Sioux and NASCAR fan. Michael had the gift to gab and loved spending time with his closest friends for a Sunday barbecue. Michael’s smile and sense of humor was contagious and will never be forgotten. His family and friends will miss his daily calls.
