Birth: Dec. 10, 1916 Fox Valley Saskatchewan, Canada Death: Jan. 14, 2003 Yountville Napa County California, USA son of Friedrich Frey / Lydia Hieb Reinhold "Rhiney" Frey, 86, of Yountville and formerly of Lodi, died Jan. 14 in Yountville of natural causes after a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec 10 1916, in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mr. Frey enlisted in the U.S. Navy at an early age. He earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer in engineering. He served for 21 years and was a World War II and Korean War veteran. After his retirement from the Navy, he started his own business as a mechanic in Oakland. He later moved to Lodi and worked as a guard for several years at Lodi Lake. He attended Zion Reformed Church while in Lodi. He lived for several years in Lodi and then moved to the Yountville Veterans Home in Napa County in 1998. He enjoyed listening to religious hymns, spending time with his family and watching baseball. A military graveside committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine with Chaplain David Shoffner of the U.S. Army officiating.
