Cremation will follow. She died yesterday in a local convalescent hospital. Mrs. Nicolaus was the widow of Edward August Nicolaus one of the founders of Ft. Sutter National Bank at Seventh and J Streets. Nicolaus a native of Sacramento, died in 1942. Mrs. Nicolaus was a founder of the Opera Guild of Sacramento, an accomplished pianist and a leader in cultural and musical activities. Born in Capital She was born in Sacramento on September 22, 1878, the daughter of Fred Yateman Williams and his wife, the former Caroline Hastings Russel. Her mother's family came to California from Pennsylvania in 1949; her father's in 1852. She attended local schools including the Sacramento High School at 9th and M Streets, before her marriage in 1902. Mrs. Nicolaus was a member of the Saturday Club of Sacramento and the San Francisco Womens Athletic Club. List of Survivors Her survivors include sons, Wendel Kerth of Berkeley and Edward A. Jr., of Sacramento; daughters, Mrs. Robert E. Stephens of Carmel, Monterey County, Mrs. Charles F. Gray Jr., and Mrs. Grant Caywood, both of Sacramento; a brother, Donald Clark Williams of Ryderwood, Md, and nine grandchildren. Friends may call at the Miller & Skelton Funeral Home until 9 PM today. The family requests that any remembrances be sent to the Society for the Blind or a favorite charity.
