Benjamin 'Bennie' Dewald
January 11, 1930 - August 06, 2016
Benjamin Dewald, 86, Jamestown, ND died Saturday August 6, 2016 at Eventide in Jamestown, ND.
Bennie was born January 11, 1930 at the family home NW of Streeter, ND. He was the ninth child of Peter and Albina (Doerr) Dewald. He attended rural school and also Streeter Public School and grew to manhood in the vicinity.
He married Sally Devereaux on September 14, 1950. They made their home on the family farm. Bennie had lived on the farm until entering Wishek Living Center June 22, 2015. He moved to Eventide in Jamestown, December 3, 2016.
He enjoyed farming and helped until his eyesight would no longer allow him to do so. He also was an excellent welder. He designed and welded a roaster which he used many times to roast pigs for different events. He always enjoyed roasting the pig for the Annual Pig Roast for the Dusty Trail Riders which he was a charter member of. He also enjoyed working with leather. He made a bridle for one of his favorite horses, Oakie as well as hundreds of leather keychains that he would give away. He also made many rings from dimes, quarters and designed his own from the milk bulk tank.
He enjoyed spending time with his special friend Donna Fischer and visiting with neighbors and friends.
He is survived by Donna Fischer, children, Judy (Virgil) Horst, Mandan, ND, Sandi (Tim) Dewald, Streeter, ND, Craig (Mary Jane) Dewald, Streeter, ND, Joleen Dewald, California, 3 grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Dewald, Crystal (Floyd) Nemer, Justin (Katie) Dewald, 5 great grandchildren, Parker, Carter, Tyler, Beckett and Bristol Dewald, 2 sisters, Polly Landowski, St. Cloud, MN and Vangie Nenow, Jamestown, ND.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Service – 11:00 AM Thursday August 11, 2016 in the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran, officiating
Burial – Streeter Cemetery, Streeter ND with lunch following at the Streeter Senior Center
Visitation – 3:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home
