Barbara (Hitchrick) Krenzel, 91, Dickinson, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson with her family at her side. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Barbara Heiser was born October 2, 1920 on the family farm in Dunn County, the daughter of Mike and Mary (Stroh) Heiser. She was raised and educated in Dunn County.
Barbara married John Hitchrick on November 23, 1943 in Dickinson. They lived in Killdeer for two years prior to moving to Dickinson, where they raised their three sons. She worked as a cook at the St. Luke’s Home and St. Benedict’s Health Center, along with selling Avon, and babysitting. Her husband died on August 27, 1982. She later met Steve Krenzel and the two were united in marriage on March 31, 1984. Steve died on September 28, 1998. Barbara lived at the Pioneer Haven for 10 years before moving to the Evergreen, and eventually to St. Benedict’s Health Center.
She belonged to the St. Anthony Club, and the 49 Homemaker Club. She loved to cook, sew, play cards, play bingo, go dancing, and crocheting pot holders.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Mike (Lorraine) Hitchrick, Santee, Calif., David (Marge) Hitchrick, Dickinson, and Terry (Linda) Hitchrick, Decatur, Ga.; sister, Beta McKnight, Great Falls, Mont.; seven grandchildren, Sandra (Gary) Franks, Shelly (Ray) Dexter, Sheryl (Dan) Raymond, Todd Hitchrick, Allen Hitchrick, Terry Anthony (Kesha) Hitchrick, and Terria White; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three step-children, Leo, Darlene and Kathy. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Ann Hitchrick; her husbands; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
