Hildegard AMY Passed away on July 1st at the Corwin Center at Emerald Heights in Redmond at age 83. She was born in Glendive, Montana in 1921. She overcame much adversity in her childhood to become a warm, loving, and intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor.
During World War II, she answered the call of her country and served in the Marines from 1943 to 1946. While in the service, she met her future husband, Glenn Amy and they were married in Denver Colorado in 1947. Soon after, they moved to Richland, Washington and had two sons, Phillip and Douglas.
They moved several times for career purposes and eventually ended up retiring in the Seattle area in 1987. They lived at Bear Creek Country Club complex for many years, and she moved into Emerald Heights in Redmond in 2003. Hilde was a loving mother, sister, and aunt.
She was also a very affectionate and fiercely loyal wife. In many ways, she was the matriarch of her family and she cared for all of them with a great deal of energy and tenderness. She worked hard to create a home that was warm and nurturing for her family. She was also a very compassionate person and an independent thinker.
Hilde is survived by son Phillip and wife Marlene of Antioch, California, by son Douglas and wife Susan of Northampton, Massachusetts, by granddaughter Lauren and grandson Samuel, and by step-granddaughters Christina and Charlotte, and by step-grandson Vincent. She has one surviving sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Fred Bullwinkel, of Castro Valley, California.
Funeral Services will be held at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1575 145th Place S.E., Bellevue, WA. at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6th. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 14840 N.E. 24th, Redmond, Washington, 98052.
