Richard Ketterling
Richard Ketterling, 82, Luverne, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth.
Services were Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. The Rev. Gary Klatt officiated. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.
Richard Ketterling was born to Andrew and Christina (Bietz) Ketterling on Oct. 17, 1923, in Washburn, N.D. He was raised there and attended country school through the eighth grade. Following his education he helped his parents on the family farm. He moved with his family to Luverne where he worked as a machinist at A.R. Wood Manufacturing for several years. He later moved to Minneapolis and worked at Lear Siegler Air Conditioning.
He married Nora (Samuelson) Norskog at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Minneapolis until he retired in 1986. Following his retirement, the couple moved back to Luverne to live on the family farm.
Mr. Ketterling was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. He enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. He liked to grow vegetables and raised chickens, ducks and geese. He enjoyed reading and loved to care for their cats.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Ketterling; one brother, Gilbert Ketterling, Luverne; and family and friends.
Mr. Ketterling was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Emel.
