Larry Lee Ketterling
Larry Lee Ketterling, 64, Lisbon, ND, was enjoying his favorite hobby of flying when he unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, July 31. Larry was born to Oscar and Lodeva (Loebs) Ketterling on January 16, 1950 in LaMoure ND. Larry graduated from LaMoure High School in 1968 and went on to pursue his love of music at UND-Ellendale Branch, and then graduated from Mayville State College in 1973. Larry shared his gift of music with many students by teaching at Beulah and Marion, ND.
Larry married Kathie Ulmer (Hay) in 1972; they had three children; Kristine, Travis and Evan.
Larry loved farming and farmed with his parents at the Ketterling farm for a number of years. Larry then worked for various insurance companies until forming Ketterling Insurance, in 1998.
Larry married Linda Urbach in 1990 and currently shared a home in Lisbon, ND. Together, they belonged to a local motorcycle club, traveling many miles a year to enjoy the various restaurants and parts of North Dakota. In addition, they looked forward to traveling to Texas each winter in their motorhome to enjoy time with friends.
Larry had many hobbies including playing guitar, visiting with everyone, enjoying coffee with neighbors, singing, flying, helping neighbors with harvest and spending time with his family. Larry took no greater pleasure then to lend a hand or "visit" with someone - whether an old friend, relative or a stranger he just met.
Larry was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, son, uncle, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his wife Linda, mother Lodeva, Ketterling, children Kristine Rauh (Shawnee, KS), Travis (Sioux Falls, SD), Evan (Julie) Ketterling (Berkley, MI) step-children Angie Carter (Todd) Wade Urbach (Tracey) and Heidi Adolf, all of Lisbon, sister Shirley Teterud (Leroy) Auburn, WA, 7 grandchildren Taylor, Megan, Jace, Paige, Dylan, Jordan, Jarrett, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar.
