Caroline was born in Tepee Butte Township, N.D., the daughter of Christian and Carolina (Oberlander) Christman. She attended schooling and later graduated from high school in Havelock, N.D. Caroline married Ingvald Hegge in Forsythe, Mont., on Oct. 22, 1938. She worked as a dental assistant and receptionist in Hettinger, N.D. She farmed in Regent, N.D., for several years. She also resided in the communities of Bismarck and New Salem, N.D. She belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church in North Dakota. She moved to Oregon and settled into the community of Lebanon in 1993. She is survived by her sisters, Anna Erickson of Dickinson, N.D., Pauline Schallhorn of Lebanon, and Elsie Ball and Lorraine Harris, both of Corvallis; and 31 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ingvald on Oct. 5, 1986; her parents; brothers Chris, Elmer, Pete, John and Art; and sisters Emma and Ella. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in New Salem, N.D.
