Mr. Voegele, age 60, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on August 5, 2010 at Close To Home Hospice Hospitality House surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.
Dennis LeRoy Voegele was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on May 6, 1950 the son of Edward and Irene (Baumann) Voegele where he was raised and educated. In 1968, he met the love of his life Sandra Naasz. They were married on August 31, 1969 in Java, South Dakota. To this union three children were born, Dennis Jr., Troy and Misty. During their first year of marriage the couple relocated often while Dennis worked road construction. It was during this time that he found his passion for operating equipment. The couple then made their home in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, where he worked for American Colloid in Belle Fourche. In 1976, the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming, here he started as an equipment operator for Amax Coal working his way up into management. In 1996 Dennis and Sandy moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, working for BSNF railroad until returning to Gillette in 2001. At the time of his death he was employed for the Campbell County Landfill.
Dennis was known for his loyalty to his family, who loved him very much, hard work, great sense of humor, love of music and being the life of the party. Dennis and Sandy spent their free time camping and riding atv's with friends from Gillette, Belle Fourche and Sundance. His vibrant personality brought him lifelong friendships. There was never a person that was a stranger to Dennis, all of his children's friends considered him a second dad. His friends always said the party didn't start until Dennis arrived. He was the biggest jokester and even upon battling cancer he always made people laugh.
