Neumeister The Crossville Chronicle Thu Oct 21, 2010, 02:41 PM CDT CROSSVILLE — Robert Theodore Neumeister, 83, of Fairfield Glade, passed away on Oct. 19, 2010. Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at Fairfield Methodist Church, with The Rev. Leonard Markum officiating. Interment was held in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Mr. Neumeister was born April 30, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the son of Theodore and Jane Burkhart Neumeister. He was retired from Lockheed-Marietta and was a member of Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. Of German descent, Bob grew up in southern Indiana, served in the Navy during WWII and lived for a brief time in Oak Ridge, before moving to Marietta, GA, in 1950 where he lived, worked, and raised a family until finally moving back to a place he loved dearly — Fairfield Glade. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, playing cards, eating German food and driving cars — even if only to the grocery store. While a man of few words, his outlook was perfectly summed up in the pronouncement he made at some point during every family outing, gathering and celebration: "It's a great life!" Survivors include his wife Betty Deshields Neumeister of Fairfield Glade; sons Robert L. Neumeister and wife Eve of Roswell, GA, Donald E. Neumeister and wife Shawn Dooley of Atlanta, GA and David T. Neumeister and wife Fran of Marietta, GA; daughters, Mary Beth Neumeister of Marietta, GA and Betty Jane Neumeister and husband Mike Pierce of Marietta, GA; stepsons, Robert J. McCoy and wife Pam and Micheal McCoy; stepdaughters, Terry Hopkins and husband David and Linda Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Nabetha Jean Jones Neumeister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Building Fund of the Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
