TEMPLE Funeral for the Rev. Henry Ules Barfield, retired pastor, 97, Temple, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Life Assembly of God with the Rev. Tony Elkins, pastor of Abundant Life Church, Geronimo, and the Rev. David McCracken, pastor of New Life Assembly of God, Cache, officiating.
The Rev. Barfield passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, in Temple.
Burial will be at Cache Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Henry was born Jan.19, 1913, in McCurtain, to Ernest and Mattie Windom Barfield. He grew up in Grandfield, where he attended school. He married Marie Hood on Feb. 3, 1937, in Lawton. They lived in Cache for 49 years until her death on June 15, 1985. He was a diesel mechanic with civil service at Fort Sill for 27 years before retiring. Mr. Barfield was a pastor at Geronimo Assembly of God, Mountain Park Assembly of God, and Roosevelt Assembly of God until his retirement. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God for more than 45 years.
He is survived by his sons: Mike Barfield and Lindy Barfield, both of Cache; and C. J. Barfield, of Devol; his daughters and their husbands: Dolores and Al Wood, of Devol; Mickie and Jack Akins, of San Diego; Rixie and Don Milliron, Redman, Ore.; Coweta and Roy Keiningham, of Cache; and Nina and Bill Bruce, of Temple, Oklahoma; his sister, Viola of Dallas; one brother, Noah Barfield, of Lawton; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Barfield was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; two sons: Robert Barfield, and Vern Barfield; seven brothers: Robert, Daniel, Harmon, Fred, Major, J. T. and Abe Barfield; and one sister, Vivian Terry.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
