CHALMER L. MERRITTS
Chalmer L. Merritts, 77, of 510 26th Ave., a retired insurance company manager and former agent, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 1979, in his home, following an extended illness. Mr. Merritts retired from the State Farm Insurance Co. in July 1977, after 37 years' service.
He was born May 19, 1901, in Altoona, the son of John W. and Annie (Gunnett) Merritts, and married Bernice Gill.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters to a previous marriage, Mrs. Barbara Norman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Patricia Manners of Joppatown, Md., and five grandchildren. Mr. Merritts was a member of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church and its John Wesley Sunday School class. He was a Sunday School teacher. He was past president of the Altoona Lions Club and a member of the Heidelberg Country Club.
There will be no viewing.

MERRITTS – Private services for Chalmer L. Merritts of 26th Ave. will be held at the convenience of the family in the Calvary Mausoleum Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday. Entombment in the mausoleum. There will be no viewing. Arrangements by Stevens Mortuary. Please omit flowers.
