Birth: Jan. 2, 1947, USA Death: Jul. 18, 2006 De Smet Kingsbury County South Dakota, USA Funeral services will be July 22, for Elaine Susan Jensen, 59, Lake Preston, who died on July 18, 2006, at the DeSmet Memorial Hospital in DeSmet following a battle with cancer. The Rev. Richard Baumberger will officiate in St. Catherine's Catholic Church at Oldham, and burial will be in the church cemetery. Elaine Scheafer was born on Jan. 2, 1947, to J.C. and Maxine (Singer) Scheafer. She graduated from Colton High School in 1965 and later from Dakota State University with a degree in education. She married Niel Bumann on March 14, 1969. They lived in Oldham, where she taught school and coached. She married James C. Jensen on Feb. 17, 1979, and they farmed in the Lake Preston area. She was a home care provider for home health. Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Arlo) Jurrens of Elkton; three sons, Doug (Tonya) Bumann of Lake Preston, Matthew and Mark Jensen, both of Lake Preston; a stepson, Eugene Bumann of Yuma, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Jacquelyn (Arlyn) Leonhardt and Michelle (Scott) Longville, both of Lake Preston; nine grandchildren; four brothers, John (Bernie) Scheafer and Ken Scheafer, both of Sioux Falls, Bill (Barb) Scheafer of Rosemount, Minn., and Tony (Gaye) Scheafer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Corinne (Roger) Bartlett of Sioux Falls, and Irene (Steve) Carmody of Ramona; her mother-in-law, Genevieve Bumann of Oldham; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Jerome and Verne; a sister, Barbara; and four siblings in infancy.
