FLU FATAL TO MRS. STEVEN ZACHER OF BEAVER CREEK; SICK ONLY THREE DAYS
After an illness of influenza lasting only three days, Mrs. Ludviga Zacher, wife of Steven Zacher and mother of five children, the oldest of which is 13, died at their farm home in the Beaver Creek country in Rosenthal last Friday evening at 5:00 o’clock. She was 40 years of age.
Mrs. Zacher was a woman of great strength and a hard worker and always enjoyed the best of health, having never been sick as far back as can be remembered, and up until three days before her death had been doing her regular work and apparently in perfect health. After she had been taken to her bed and continued to get worse her family became alarmed and called a physician. He pronounced her ailment as influenza. She continued to grow worse and passed away a day later.
Deceased was the daughter of Adam Geffre who died a few years sago. Her Geffre who died a few years ago. Her home with her daughter ever since that time. She leaves to mourn her demise, her husband, five children, the oldest Katy aged 13, Peter, Barbara, Adam and the youngest a son, Aloys, 2 years old. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters, Sebastian, Marcus, Joe and Karl Geffre, all living in the Strasburg and Hague vicinity. Mrs. Martin Knols of Artas, S. Dak., and Mrs. John Schumacher, Zeeland, are the sisters. Felix Zacher of Onaka, S. Dak., Adam of Linton, and John and Peter of Strasburg, are brothers-in-law.
Impressive funeral services were held Sunday at 10:00 a. m., from St. Aloysius Catholic church with Father Friedl officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The services were attended by the largest crowd ever assembled in that community.
The sympathy of all goes out to the family in their bereavement.
