Robert M. Schantz Robert M. Schantz "Bob" PITTSFORD - Robert M. "Bob" Schantz passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Rochester Friendly Home. He was predeceased by his wife, Carol; and sister, Marion Bellisle. He is survived by his children, Anna Schantz, Frederick (Mary Ellen) Schantz, Craig (Maria) Schantz, Eric (Colleen) Schantz and Celeste (David) Kovachi; grandchildren, Amanda, Meaghan, Merritt, Katherine, Gillian, Mary Grace, Nicholas, Patrick, William, Allison, Benjamin and Evan; brother, Joseph Schantz; and sister, Jean Baum. Bob was a lifetime resident of Rochester. He was an Aquinas graduate, class of 1937, and attended the University of Toronto, St. Michael's College, class of 1941. Bob then went on to receive his law degree from Albany Law School, class of 1947. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Bob was a partner with Woods, Oviatt, Gilman, LLP, where he was well-respected and well-known for winning his cases. Bob was a very caring family man. He had a strong work ethic and a sense of honor towards others and his country. Friends are welcome to call Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Fairport. Bob's funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. at St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
