Schantz and four children; Patricia Marie (Robert) Smith, Michael Paul and Brian Joseph (Jennifer) Schantz and Jo-Ann Alice (William) Furlong. Joseph is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Originally from Rochester NY, Joseph served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Photographer's Mate. He continued in the photo field and retired after a long and very distinguished career as the civilian supervisor for Research and Development at the Naval Photographic Center, Washington, DC.
