Gary M. Zent, 68, went to be with his Heavenly Father, surrounded by family and loved ones, on Sunday, March 28, 2010.
He had fought a valiant battle against numerous health issues and was affectionately referred to by his family as the Miracle Man.
Gary was born on Nov. 5, 1941, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, to Harold and Mary Catherine Zent. He had six brothers and one sister. He was raised in Hysham and graduated from Hysham High in 1959.
Gary was in the National Guard and attended Park School of Business in Denver and Eastern Montana College in Billings. He had a great career in accounting and office management, eventually owning and operating Big Sky Beauty Supply in Billings.
He was a devoted husband, father and Papa, adored by volumes of people for his friendly, caring, and giving nature. Gary received pure joy when around all of his grandchildren and had the great honor of living with and helping to raise his grandson Chrystian from the day he was born. They had a special bond and spoke their own language to one another. He never failed to make a friend anywhere he went. His passion was for his family.
The Denver Broncos, win or lose, were a close second. He was an avid hockey fan and had a special love for his poodle Ebony. He also enjoyed making sure the students in his grandson Chrystian???s class at Sandstone Elementary School got healthy snacks every Wednesday and would gladly volunteer for whatever the students needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold M. Zent and Mary Catherine Isaac Zent; his brothers, Matt (Jackie), Ray (Kay) and Jim. He was married to the love of his life, Audre Olin Zent, who also preceded him in death.
Gary is survived by his children Jana Zent Greene and Darren (Deanna) Zent, both of Billings; his grandchildren, Chrystian Greene, Joshua, Alexis and Lydia; his brothers, Richard L. (Phyllis), Timothy E. (Becky), John; sister Mary Catherine Zent of Helena; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be at St. Bernard's Parish, Wednesday, March 31, at 11 a.m., and interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Relay for Life, the YMCA Youth Program, or the charity of one???s choice.
Arrangements are by Cremation and Funeral Gallery.
