Cowlishaw, 85, of Bozeman, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Townsend. She was born May 21, 1921, in Dickinson, N.D., to Christian and Christiana Zent. Her family moved to Park City and she graduated from Laurel High School. She then went to work at a finance company, where she met the love of her life, Jack Parker Cowlishaw. They were married on Oct. 16, 1943, in Billings, where they settled and started their family. They moved to Bozeman in 1959. Carol's main joy in life was caring for her family. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Foresters. She also belonged to the Happy Homemakers (a home demonstration club) and the Fat Ladies Club. She was always willing to give of herself by collecting funds for causes that she cared about. She served as an election judge for several years, enjoyed camping in Gallatin Canyon and loved M&M's. In May of 2002 she moved to Townsend to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved the view from the house in Townsend and enjoyed watching the sheep, lambs, birds, cows, calves and sharing treats with the family dog Shilo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Bob) McKay of Stockton, Calif.; Judy (Gary) Olsen of Townsend; Jack (Debbie) Cowlishaw of Chatham, N.J.; and Tina (Jim) Hansen of Bozeman; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and her dearest life-long friend Cathie McLean of Belgrade. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 27, at Dahl Funeral Chapel and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church followed by interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Published in the Helena Independent Record on 10/27/2006.
