Birth: May 5, 1906 Towner McHenry County North Dakota, USA Death: Oct. 2, 2001 Billings Yellowstone County Montana, USA BILLINGS GAZETTE OCT 2, 2001 Beatrice Zent Geurkink HYSHAM - Beatrice Zent Geurkink, age 96, died Oct. 2, 2001 at St. Vincent’s Healthcare in Billings, Montana. Bea was born Nov. 5, 1906 in Towner, ND, the fourth daughter of Matt and Mary Zent. In 1913, the family moved to Hysham where she spent the rest of her life. She attended school there and graduaged in 1926 from Hysham High School. In 1925 Bea married Marion Geurkink in Hysham. Bea and Marion had two daughters; Marian Janice and Patricia Jean. Bea was a homemaker and always had a meal ready for family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Alter Society. When she was young, she had her gloves washed and her bag packed in case she had a chance to leave town. Last winter when Bea could no longer live alone, she moved to Valley Health Care in Billings. She is survived by her daughter, Marian Rose of Billings and five grandsons, Randal Rose of Omaha, Nebraska, Rodney Rose of Billings, Richard (Deb) of Worden, Robert (Kris) Rose of Billings and Rorie of San Jose, CA. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Cecelia Carroll of Billings and Delores Young of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion in 1966; daughter Patty in 1995; son-in-law Art Rose in 1997. Also her parents Matt and Mary; sisters Margie Manning; Leona Wahl and brothers Herb & Harold Zent. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hysham. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. . Rite of committal will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Billings. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Alter Society, Hysham, MT 59038, or charity of ones choice. Micholetti Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
