Douglas James Kern, 55, of Waterford, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home. He was born December 3, 1959 in Marietta, son of Raymond Kern and Elaine Zwick Kern Lang. He graduated from Waterford High School in 1978 and was employed by the US Postal Service as Postmaster at Barlow. He is survived by three children, Chantal Hand and husband Brandon of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cecily Kern and friend Billy of New Albany, Ohio and Shane Kern and Fiancee Brenna at the US Air Force base in New Mexico: two grandchildren, Chloe and Jaxson Hand; His mother, Elaine Kern Lang of Waterford; three brothers, Mike Kern and wife Neva of Marietta, Tom Kern (Debbie) and Dan Kern and wife Cindy of Waterford; 4 sisters, Diane Zimmerman and husband Dan of Lowell, Marilyn Pottmeyer and husband Eric of Fleming, Beth Branham and husband Bay of Waterford and Cindy Hart (Vic) of Marietta; Several Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Kern; and grandparents, Joe and Mary Kern and Clarence and Juanita Zwick.
