Dennis Loyd Berger

Dennis Loyd Berger, 63, of Billings, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Billings Clinic, surrounded by his family.
Dennis was born in Richardton, N.D., on Jan. 5, 1944, the youngest of three children born to Steve and Barbara Berger. He was raised on the family farm and attended a country school near the farm. He also attended St. Mary's Assumption Abbey and then graduated from Richardton Public School in 1962. He joined the Air force after high school and served in Great Falls from 1962 to 1964. Dennis then began working for Pierce and Midland Packing Plants until they closed. At the time of his death he was employed by the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd as their custodian, he had worked there for 21 years.
Dennis was a hard worker and liked keeping busy. He was a collector of many things, a craftsman, and a gardener. Dennis loved fishing, fast old cars and he liked to play cards, especially poker and pitch. Dennis married Nancy Lenhardt on June 22, 1968; they have been married for 39 years and were blessed with two children. Dennis and Nancy made their home in Billings, and were very active in their children's lives.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two children, Brenda Frisbie (Ron) and Steve Berger (Lynette), all of Billings; two sisters, Betty Malicki (Chuck), of Wyoming and Beverly Senn, of Helena. Other survivors include his unborn grandchild, seven step-grandchildren, two grand-dogs, Nancy's brothers and sisters, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy's parents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dennis's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1108 24th St. West.
Dad, words can not express how much we miss you. You have been such an incredible husband, father, step-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. You were an inspiration to all who knew you.
Dennis's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Burke and his staff, the infusion center nurses and the nursing staff in the Cancer Unit, at Billings Clinic.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in honor of Dennis can be sent to the Billings Clinic Cancer Center's Clinical Research Endowment (PO Box 31031, Billings, MT 59103).
Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
