Raymond Sloboden, 66. Ruso, N.D., died Tuesday, June 8, in a Garrison, N.D., hospital from bile duct cancer.
Raymond was born Oct. 1, 1943, to William and Mary (Verbitsky) Sloboden in Minot, N.D. He graduated from Max High School in1961. He worked in the Seattle area for Boeing for two years and then returned to the farm, where he lived the rest of his life in Greatstone Township, rural Ruso. On Dec. 21, 1964, he and Judy Martinsen were married in Washburn, N.D. He was a very gentle and loving person, always thinking of his family.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Judy; son, Bill of Kent, Wash.; daughter, Mona (Jeff) Veach of Lodi, Wis.; son, Tim (Sheri) of Surrey, N.D.; 5 grandchildren, Stacy, Paige, and Lindsey Veach, and Brooke and Jacob Sloboden; mother-in-law, Ella Martinsen of Benedict, N.D.; brothers, Ed (Nita) Sloboden of Seattle, Wash., Marvin (Martha) Sloboden of Eagan, Minn., Jon (Sandi) Sloboden of Kirkland, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Loretta Martinsen, of Garrison, Joyce Martinsen of Burlington, N.D., Andrea (Eric) Klanderman of Fairfax, Va., Myrna (Ron) Undlin of Minot, Marian Sloboden of Seattle, and Darlene Sloboden of Turtle Lake, N.D.; brother-in-law, Galen (Gayle) Martinsen of Velva, N.D.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brothers, Walter, Lawrence and Robert, 3 infant brothers; 1 infant sister; brothers-in-law, Melvin and Leland Martinsen; and father-in-law, Fred Martinsen.
Services: Will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison.
Burial: Will be at the Greatstone Cemetery in Ruso Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
Visitation: Today, June 11, from noon to 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison.
