Lila P. Poline, 68, Bowbells, died Wednesday, July 11, 1990 at Medcenter One of Bismarck. Her funeral was Saturday, July 14, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Bowbells. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery of rural Max. Officiating for the service was Rev. Ken Schock. Organist was Grace Melby and a vocal duet was offered by Rev. Ken and Theresa Schock. Active Casketbearers included Llauren Nelson, Rich Greutman, Elmer Poline, Fred Baluski, Donald Schmidt, and
Melvin Martinson.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1921 on the family farm N.E. of Benedict, ND, a daughter of Christ and Carrie (Faul) Martinsen. She attended rural schools in that area for her education and she was married to Albert Mahnke on Oct. 9. 1941. They lived in Benedict for a time and then in both Max and Stanley until his death on Oct. 9, 1971. She was then married to Oscar Poline in Bowbells on Sept. 2, 1978 and they continued to live in Bowbells.
She was a member of the Bowbells Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxilliary. She is survived by her husband, Oscar of Bowbells; son, Bud of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Betty Emerick of Bowbells; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Albert Martinsen of Velva, Lloyd Martinsen of Brainard, MN, and Theodore Martinsen of Benedict; and sisters, Hilda Schmidt of Velva, Viola Bradshaw of Los Angeles, CA, Gladys Baluski of Ruso, and Darlene Kaul of Minot. Besides her parents and first husband, she was preceeded in death by four brothers.
