Henry D. Orschell, 75, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at his home.
One of three children, he was born July 23, 1939 in Connersville, the son of the late Otto and Alma Doenges Orschell.
Henry was reared on a farm near Centerville and was a graduate of Milton High School. He graduated from Purdue University in 1961 where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
He served in the US Army as a transportation officer during the Vietnam Era. It was during this time, he met his future wife, Carol Steiner of Hampton, Virginia. They married October 10, 1964 and moved to Indiana where he became a Zone Manager with the International Harvester Company. In 1969, he and his family moved to Connersville to accept a banking position with the Fayette Bank and Trust Company as a Senior Trust Officer and Vice President. He continued in banking for more than thirty years and retired from National City Bank in August 1999.
Henry was an active member of St. Gabriel Church and served there on several committees. He was an avid supporter of the Connersville community. He was also a member of the Connersville Rotary Club for more than forty-five years, having also been its past president. Additionally, he also had been a past president of the Fayette Memorial Hospital Board and the Hospital Foundation. He was also very involved in the Connersville Purdue Alumni Group, drove veterans to appointments and was a huge participant in many community organizations.
He enjoyed traveling, family get togethers, friends, overseeing the family farm, alumni projects, woodworking and reading. He was always pleasant and concerned about others.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, September 20, 2014, at St. Gabriel Church with Rev. Dustin Boehm officiating; burial, with military rites conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council, will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home from 4 until 8 PM on Friday; they may also visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com.

Survivors include his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Carol, two daughters, Cathy Burgdoerfer of Connersville and Stacy (Steve) Lorek of Loveland, Ohio, three sons, Eric (Anne) Orschell of Lexington, Kentucky, Mark (Laura) Orschell of Connersville and David (Julia) Orschell of Niceville, Florida, thirteen grandchildren, Evan, Noah and Graham Orschell, Blake, Brandon, Lauryn and Bo Burgdoerfer, Seth and Dylan Orschell, Taylor Orschell, David, Calvin and Nolan Lorek, two sisters, Otta Lee (the late Ed) Cohen of Bloomington, Indiana and Dorothy (Ron) Sweetwood of McHenry, Illinois, a brother-in-law, Dwight Steiner of Sunbury, North Carolina, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
