Vincent is said to have seven middle names. Three are on his baptism record: Vincent Joseph Charles Isidore Walterscheid. For his military service, he chose the name Charles as his middle name.
During the Korean War, Vincent served in the Army as a motor pool Sargent. After he returned home, he married Mary Ann Acker. They lived in Hereford for a short time, then moved to north of Hereford and farmed for a few years. When farming didn't pan out, the family moved back into Hereford and he began work as a carpenter. He helped build the family home at 142 Greenwood in Hereford, and that house was the first built in the neighborhood. The family started mowing lawns on weekends, but eventually the lawn service became more profitable than carpentry. Vincent is well remembered in the community as a hard worker, honest, dependable, and a great sense of humor.
