Pia Maria (Benz) WoodallPia Maria (Benz) Woodall passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter, Rebecca Daniell on August 21, 2016, in Plano, Texas. She was 84.
Pia was born on November 29, 1931, in Ottersheim, Germany to her parents, Markus and Maria Benz. She was one of nine children.
She married Charles Earl Woodall on April 11, 1959, moving from Ottersheim, Germany to Texas. The Woodalls settled in Irving, Texas where Charles worked in sales for the Deluxe Check Printing Company, and Pia worked for the City of Irving at the Senter Street Senior Citizen’s Center. She retired in 1990 and dedicated her remaining time to her family, numerous German Clubs and groups, as well as traveling with her children and grandchildren to Germany, North Carolina and the Galveston coast.
Pia had a passion for her family, music, baking, and her German culture. She sang with the Frohsinn Singing Society and was an active member of the German American Club of Dallas. She loved baking, entertaining and playing the guitar, mandolin and accordion.
Pia is survived by her husband, Charles Woodall, her daughter, Rebecca Daniell, her sons Mike and Chris Woodall, daughter-in-law Cynthia Woodall, grandchildren Brandon Daniell, Charles Woodall, Alex Woodall, Jennifer Dillon-Williams and Aaron Dillon, great grand-daughter Kyra Dillon, brothers Markus (Buwel) and Peter Benz, sisters Anne Benz, and Elsbeth Walk, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Germany and Texas.
A memorial will take place on October 15, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Woodall’s life. Reception to follow at the home of Rebecca Daniell.
