He continued his faith walk under the guidance of Augustana's congregational members and their youth directors, George and Diane Smith.
Eric began his education at Burlington Elementary School. He graduated from Des Lacs-Burlington High School, where he enjoyed participating in vocal and instrumental music programs, in 1991. While in high school he received recognition in the area of broadcasting and began part-time work as a radio DJ and later as a Morning Show Sidekick on KIZZ-FM. He continued in that position until late 2004 when the effects of Von Hippel-Lindau Syndrome became disabling. Though physically challenged, Eric persevered and was able to manage his condition. Eric was once married to Elizabeth Stolt. They made their home in Richfield, Minn., and from this union Katherine (14) and Jackson (11) were born. Eric relished his role as a father and enjoyed sharing common interests with his children. He took pride in his children's involvement in church choir.
