Kermit “Bud” Erickson, age 89, went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2015. Bud was born May 17, 1926, in Wolf Point, Montana, to Axel and Lena (Seivers) Erickson. He grew up in Vida, Montana. He graduated from Circle High School in 1944, and married Della Sandberg on March 10, 1946. Bud and Della made their home in Vida, Montana, where Bud began his farming career. After Bud’s retirement from farming, they moved to Circle and built a new home. It wasn’t long after their move to Circle that Della, his wife of 45 years, became ill and passed away. Bud then met Margaret Anderson of Sidney, Montana. Bud and Margaret were married on December 1, 1992, and Bud moved to Sidney to make his home with Margaret.
Bud’s hobbies were fishing, reading, traveling, woodcarving, and inventing new gadgets, which he loved. He would spend hours creating new devices or thinking up new ways to do things. He also loved all sports. Bud worked tirelessly to partner with and help support the Gideons, as well as his home church that he and Margaret attended, the Faith Alliance Church of Sidney. While living in Circle, Bud attended the Circle Assembly of God and helped support this church through the years. He was also a Farm Bureau member for many years and became a Farm Bureau agent in his earlier years.
After purchasing the CHS athletic bus and going into business with his son, Dennis, Bud and Dennis transported CHS students to all sporting events from 19741982. After retiring, Bud drove school bus for the Sidney School District until a health occurrence made it impossible for him to continue. He truly missed being able to drive students for the school.
Bud loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He made every effort to attend whatever sporting event or church event his grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. In recent years, however, it was harder and harder for him to attend their events due to the pain in his legs and back, but that didn’t prevent him from trying.
Bud is survived by: his wife, Margaret of Sidney; his brother, Adrine “Boots” Erickson of Wolf Point; his children, Diana Erickson (Arch) Tamietti of Missoula, Pauline Erickson (Myron) Gackle of Circle, Dennis (Marlys) Erickson of Vida, Darla Erickson (Greg) Farmer of Grand Junction, CO; his grandchildren, Jason Tamietti of Missoula, Jarett (Amy) Tamietti of Missoula, Jeffry (Jennifer) Tamietti of Medical Lake, WA, Gary (Lynae) Gackle of Circle, Jody Gackle (Craig) Dyk of Circle, Doree Gackle (John) Deming of Circle, Rusty (Tiffany) Gackle of Billings, Brady (Candace) Erickson of Circle, Brielle Erickson (Ben) Larson of Sidney, Christopher (Stephanie) Farmer of West Lafayette, IN, Andrew (Torre) Farmer of West Lafayette, IN, and Jeremy Farmer of Grand Junction, CO; his great grandchildren, Jeffry T., Ashlyn and Makayla Tamietti, Isabella Tamietti, Hannah, Caleb, and Grace Gackle, Nathan and Seth Dyk, Rylee, Audree, and Cydnee Deming, Kylie and Tyler Erickson, Rhys and Malia Larson, Caitlyn and Brett Farmer, Drew and Kylar Farmer; four step sons, Dave, Brian, and Jeff Anderson all of Sidney; and Mike Anderson of Kentucky.
