JEROME GEBHARDT OBITUARY
Minot, N.D.: Jerome A. "Jerry" Gebhardt joined our Heavenly Father on Dec. 14, 2010, in Minot, N.D.
He was born March 27, 1952, to Ida Mae and Arthur Gebhardt. He was raised in Ellendale, N.D., where he enjoyed playing baseball, wrestling, hunting and fishing. He attended college in Mayville, where he received a degree in business. On Nov. 28, 1980, he married his best friend, Cindy (Voight), and together they had three beautiful children, daughter Jami of Minot, daughter Megan of Anchorage, Alaska, and son Jared of Minot.
Jerry dedicated 38 years working for the state of North Dakota, starting out building highways and working in truck regulatory in the West Fargo area. He later moved to Lisbon, N.D, for four years, working as a driver's license examiner. In 1986, he became area supervisor for the driver's license division for 24 years after moving to Minot.
Although Jerry enjoyed his work for the state, he loved nothing more than being with his family. His bright smile and hardy laugh were present when his family was around. He adored his wife and looked forward to their adventures. Every Friday night, he made time for "date night." Jerry watched his children grow, learn and achieve as if it were a sporting event. He was actively involved in their lives and felt nothing but love and pride when it came to his kids. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. His favorite hobbies involved hunting and fishing, and these activities turned into family outings. Jerry was often quoted as saying, "I'd rather be out huntin' with my favorite huntin' buddies, my kids." Not only was he fond of spending time with his wife and kids, but he also loved playing with his three grandchildren, Hayden, Sophia and Evelyn. Jerry often said he did not measure success in how much money he made, but how happy his family was and how much love he could give them. In the end, his entire family agreed he was the richest man.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Gebhardt; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Ida Mae Gebhardt; wife, Cindy Gebhardt; daughter, Jami Hinkel (Tim); daughter, Megan Gebhardt; son, Jared Gebhardt (Mareika); grandson, Hayden Gebhardt; twin granddaughters, Evelyn and Sophia Gebhardt; sisters, La Palma (Gayle) Dobler and Elaine (Kurt) Dodgers; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and his mother-in-law, Louise Voight.
