Pauline (Wolberg) Peterson passed away Monday, August 2, 2010, at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND.
Born on the family homestead in the Daglum community, Stark County, to Jacob and Louise (Reister) Wolberg, October 2, 1914, Pauline was blessed with a long and active life. She attended school in New England and Slope County, graduating high school in Amidon when her family moved to a farm near there.
Pauline received her elementary teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College, and taught in rural schools, mainly in Slope County.
On June 20, 1943, Pauline was united in marriage to Howard "Skinny" Peterson in Miles City, MT. They made their home in Slope County where they farmed and ranched until Skinny passed away in May 1979.
Pauline remained on the family farm, keeping her home, baking and gardening until she moved to Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger.
Pauline was a member of the Lebanon Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies WELCA and greatly enjoyed Bible studies. She served several years as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for Slope County.
She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting family and others before herself. Pauline loved cooking and baking delectable goodies and always had cookies, buns or kolaches prepared for any occasion. She also enjoyed trying new recipes, gardening, reading, and during spare moments, working crossword puzzles. She often quoted poetry from memory.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: Jerilyn and Harvey Bieber, Brockway, MT; Janice and Chuck DeFoe, Hettinger, ND; Howard "Pete" and Randa, Peterson, rural New England; and Barry and Norma Peterson, New England, ND; her sister, Christine Weisz, Bowman, ND; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Chad Bieber, Brockway, MT; Cord and Kristin Bieber, Brockway, MT; Kelcey Bieber, Bozeman, MT; Mike and Deana DeFoe, Brianna, Jacob and Kieran, Appleton MN; Bryan and Heidi DeFoe, Mason, Tanner, Hayden and Dawson, Hettinger, ND; Candice DeFoe and Olivia, Hettinger, ND; Dallas and Michele Peterson, Tyler and Melissa, Anchorage, AK; Michelle (Peterson) and Jason Biegler, Morgan and Jacob, and Eric Fisher, Sterling, ND; Travis and Charlotte Peterson, Kaitlyn and Trenton, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; four nieces and one nephew.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Skinny; her parents, Jacob and Louise Wolberg; and her brother, Gust Wolberg.
Family services for Pauline Peterson are at the Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Home, August 6, 2010, Friday at 7:00 pm.
Funeral service is at the Lebanon Lutheran Church, Amidon, ND, Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Lebanon Cemetery.
